ArkiBoard Installation Guide
Share
Handling & Storage
- Store flat, off the ground, in a dry, climate-controlled area.
- Keep material covered to prevent excessive moisture absorption.
- Avoid leaning boards against framing; carry them horizontally to prevent edge damage.
- Allow 48-hour acclimation before installation.
Cutting & Preparation
- Scoring & Snap Method: Use a utility knife for thin sheets.
- Carbide-Tipped Circular Saw: For precise cuts in thicker boards (dust extraction recommended).
- Rotary/Oscillating Tools: Ideal for irregular angle cuts.
Framing & Fastening
ArkiShield can be installed over wood or steel framing, with studs spaced no more than 24" On Centre.
Fastening Methods
- Self-Tapping Screws: Recommended for steel framing.
- Coated Steel Screws: Minimum 9/16" from board edges, placed 6" apart on perimeter and 12" apart in the field.
-
Liquid Nail + Finishing Nails:
- Method: Apply Liquid Nail adhesive to the back of the board, secure it with a few finishing nails to hold in place.
- Advantage: Reduces fastener visibility and maintains clean exterior aesthetics.
Best Practice: If using a nail gun, set the PSI correctly to prevent over-penetration. Test on scrap material before installation.
Joint & Seam Treatment
- For butt joints: Maintain a 1/8" expansion gap to accommodate thermal movement.
- For vertical seams: Use a hidden metal flashing (placed behind) to prevent water ingress.
- For panel edges: Prime and seal cut edges to enhance water resistance.
Finishing & Painting
- Apply latex primer before painting.
- Ensure the surface is dry and free of debris before coating.
- Factory pre-primed boards can be painted immediately.
